Update: July 2021

At Baylands we attempting a road to recovery from a stressful time of closures and restrictions!

We are pleased to offer some Summer Activities (see our events & activities page).

We will be continuing to restrict  group sizes and maintain our current Covid Safety Rules and Baylands Policies. This is is our choice in an attempt to protect as many people as possible, so please bear with us. Reasons include; needing our vulnerable clients to feel safe when attending; not risking an outbreak in our own families; issues with horse care if all are forced to isolate!

We hope you have a great Summer and can join us for some fun.

Clients returning from before March 2020 and new clients must complete an updated rider registration form prior to any activity. It can be downloaded here - for you to print, fill out and bring to your booking, or it can be done on the day.

UPDATE: June 2021

Baylands has been delighted to see some of our clients return at the weekends. We are managing to honour bookings made prior to the latest lockdown and are aiming to accommodate new clients in future also. Currently we are still limited with opening times and working hours, as we are needing to recover from the impact of closures. We have Covid-safe procedures in place and are still continuing to limit our class sizes. Please see Covid safety rules and other Baylands policies

UPDATE: 29 March 2021

Baylands will not be re-opening just yet! We have made plans to open from 1st May - as long as nothing else changes 🤞 We have a lot of work to do before opening, and as stated in our previous Google posts - providing a safe and enjoyable experience is our priority!

Bookings will be offered to clients who had a lesson planned and paid for prior to the lockdown announcement - we will be getting in contact with you shortly. Should you want to re-book an appointment made for December or January please feel free to contact us if you haven't already had a call. If you are new to us we would love to hear from you and will do our best to make arrangements for you once we have attended to our previously booked clients. We very much look forward to seeing you all again soon! 😀

All clients should have filled out a new rider registration form - with additional confirmation that Covid-19 policies will be adhered to - this can be downloaded here. Participants refusing to adhere to guidelines or social distancing rules will be asked to leave and will lose their fee. See: Baylands Equestrian Centre Covid-19 Safety Rules.

UPDATE: 1 JANUARY 2021

Happy New Year! We are hoping this year

brings some happy and healthy times.

Please be advised that Baylands Equestrian Centre remains temporarily closed due to the additional restrictions of Tier 4 regulations and reported worsening of the Covid-19 situation. We will still honour any bookings made and paid for when we are able to reopen. Plans had been in place to continue sessions up to and including Tier 3. We were then thrown again by a new Tier 4. There is mention that sport can continue for under 18s, although we would still need to assist riders at less than 2 metres for safety checks or leading. We are holding 'socially distant' or vitual meetings regularly to discuss latest advice and assess current risks. Please bear with us - as we have more to consider than opening for income at this time - although this is a massive challenge. We have particular concerns for anyone who is vulnerable, including members of our own staff and families. Additionally we are located in a public park and must abide by local restrictions. Our priority is to make sure we are able to care for the animals until we may open safely and ensure the health of humans and horses. As everyone is aware there are daily changes to restrictions and we will act as quickly as possible to get us all back out enjoying what we love. Please contact us if you have any queries on: 01582 720766.

UPDATE: 4 DECEMBER 2020

Baylands Equestrian Centre will be opening as planned from Friday 4th December. The regulations will return to those before the second lockdown, abiding by Tier 2 guidelines - see October update. Please see the website for guidance on rules and regulations in place. If you already had a lesson booked and we have not yet contacted you please get in touch. Our clients who had a lesson confirmed for November will take priority when booking. New clients are still welcome - please contact us for more information.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

UPDATE: 2 NOVEMBER 2020

Due to the latest Government announcement we must confirm that Baylands Equestrian Centre will be closing during the national 'lock-down' from Thursday 5th November 2020. The earliest planned reopening will be Friday 4th December, however further updates will be added here should there be an extension to this.

Although we are an educational facility, we are also bound by the conditions of the sport/leisure industry. Horse riding is not part of mainstream school syllabus, unless relating to Physical Education. However, at this time, it is not considered essential. With disappointment, we fully understand that we must cease riding activity. See Government advice under businesses and venues: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november

As before, we will keep the horses happy and comfortable - looking forward to our clients return. We have not organised any Christmas activities, as the next few weeks are uncertain. We will add these once there is confirmation of an end to 'lock-down'.

Once again, any bookings made will be honoured when we reopen. Clients who have booked and paid for their lesson will be offered first refusal on times available. Should you wish to have a lesson beforehand - we have a few spaces left on Wednesday 4th November 2020 - please contact the office if you are interested. All booked clients will be contacted to confirm closure. Calls will still be taken, so should you have any queries please contact the office on: 01582 720766.

Hope to see you in December - Stay Safe!

UPDATE: 30 OCTOBER 2020

We have been delighted to see the return of our clients over the last few weeks and are very grateful for everyone's cooperation meeting the current guidelines. We feel we have managed to operate in a way that keeps everyone safe, going above and beyond to follow all measures. Most clients have had to be flexible with bookings, although we have done our best to offer something for everyone.

The following still applies:

All clients will need to fill out a new rider registration form - with additional confirmation that Covid-19 policies will be adhered to - this can be downloaded here. Participants refusing to adhere to guidelines or social distancing rules will be asked to leave and will lose their fee. See: Baylands Equestrian Centre Covid-19 Safety Rules.

Registration forms must be presented before any activity begins. If you have not completed a registration form you will unfortunately not be able to ride. You may bring your form along to your booking or email to [email protected] (This email is dedicated to receiving registration forms only, therefore no other communication is made via this email).

The yard will remain closed to the public and clients. A temporary 'outdoor' office will be located at the gate. We politely ask that riders arrive with one other person if required and spectators return to their vehicle to observe (unless the rider requires specialist assistance). Riding hats will still be provided if required and disinfected, along with all other equipment between use.

You may be aware that Luton will be entering a 'Tier 2' Covid-19 alert level on Saturday 31 October 2020 at 00:01. This will not currently affect our operation. We have already been working to meet these guidelines in an attempt to avoid further disruption, expecting measures to be increased, and so that we are ensuring the safety of all involved. Should further restrictions come into force or a 'Tier 3' be announced we will give as much notice as we receive to make any amendments to bookings. If you have any queries or concerns please contact the office on: 01582 720766. As we are limiting staff numbers on site and mainly working with the horses or other clients - please telephone with any requirements - answering custom forms is often difficult and delayed, however the phone is covered every day apart from our original closed days (Monday & Thursday).

We are very grateful for your support and patience during this time.

All at Baylands look forward to seeing you soon.

UPDATE: 7 AUGUST 2020

We plan to contact clients with outstanding bookings over the weekend and early next week to offer available sessions. If you had a booking please call us if have changed your contact details.

A waiting list for new bookings is being taken. Should you wish to be added to this list please contact us.

This is new to all of us - please bear with us while we ensure systems are working, as we hope have a successful return to riding! Due to the limitation on numbers of people in one area and other measures relating to Covid-19 we aim to keep everyone safe, while receiving quality instruction and having as much fun as possible!

We have waited a little longer before opening to ensure we are able to do this especially due to increased infections in LU4 - along with needing to provide first aid safely, improve our horses fitness levels and follow all reliable advice. See: Return to Riding - Phase 4

Vouchers purchased prior to 21st March 2020 will be granted a

5-month extension to cover the period of closure.

UPDATE: 20 JULY 2020 - COVID-19

Baylands Equestrian Centre has still not returned to activities as yet. We have been in the process of confirming requirements relating to health & safety, first aid and ensuring Government and local authority guidelines can be met. Along with bringing our horses back into work. This is to continue to ensure the safety of our horses, staff, clients and their families.

There has been mention that we intend to start riding activities in August - at this current time this is still our tentative plan.

We will be firstly honoring outstanding bookings. Clients who had a booking prior to 'lockdown' will be offered first refusal on sessions. New bookings may then be taken.

There will be some changes to our processes, as expected. These will be explained to all clients during a telephone re-booking or booking process. We very much look forward to seeing you soon!

UPDATE: 20 MAY 2020 - COVID-19

Please be advised that Baylands Equestrian Centre will not be returning to activities yet. There has been some debate in response to the 'easing' of lockdown guidelines and the decision has been made to continue as we are for now. Hopefully we will be able to return to normal activities very soon. Our decision is due to - the risk not decreasing and the strict guidelines that are in place - activities may be less enjoyable and still hold the same risk as before announcements were made. Baylands aims to consider the health and well-being of our horses, staff, clients and their families above operating income.

Our horses are very happy and healthy, having been at rest during this time of isolation but will need bringing back into work for lessons to begin. We have followed guidelines strictly and therefore not completed any ridden activity - to protect ourselves, the horses and others. We will give notice of when we intend to bring the horses back into work, but for now they will continue to enjoy their holiday! Starting fitness programmes and stopping again could have a negative effect on their health and welfare, should a second lockdown be required, as has been observed in other countries.

We miss all of our clients and wish you all well. Please feel free to get in touch by telephone if you have any queries or need anything we can help with. Emails are not always reaching the office at this time.

UPDATE: 20 MARCH 2020 - COVID-19

Please be advised that regrettably after the government guidelines issued on Friday 20th March - Baylands Equestrian Centre will not be operating or open to the public with immediate effect. Our governing bodies - ABRS/The Pony Club - support this action to avoid unnecessary contact, travel or additional strain on the emergency services and NHS. We are aware that you may be disappointed and guidelines had up until Friday evening suggested we could continue, however this is a constantly and fast changing situation and we must behave responsibly. Staff will still be on site 24 hours to care for the animals and the office is still available by telephone should you have any queries or concerns. All bookings made will be honoured and hopefully we will see you soon.
